Do you have opportunity to change the learning environment where you work (or volunteer) to support making? The opportunity exists to change the environment to support making in my school. As the school year is fast approaching, I am trying to balance time and resources to get my classroom up and running with the hope to include a makerspace.
Are you planning to create a makerspace, either in a classroom or in a separate space? Please share your plans or questions with the group. A makerspace is a topic that has been discussed in our building. Space is the first obstacle. Rethinking the library space and the space in the lab to see where, how the supplies can be stored and assessed. The second obstacle is funding to get the supplies. A question I have is how has other classrooms been able to fund the purchases of supplies.
The educators of Reggio Emilia call the classroom “the third teacher”. What lesson is your classroom teaching? What a great way to think about the classroom as "the third teacher". I think that the classroom is a family in which learners support and inspire each other to become the best version of the themselves. In addition the classroom which has interesting objects, books, and other trinkets, sparks curiosity and discussion among the learners to make new discoveries.
